Kirtley's Kitchen Makeover PDF Print E-mail

The Kirtley’s are both working professionals with three children. When they purchased their home in Apopka, they knew that they wanted to completely renovate their kitchen. The kitchen suffered from a boring and outdated look. They wanted to replace the cheap builder grade cabinetry. Their old square edged laminated countertops were chipped and damaged from use. Their cheap standard stainless steel sink was too shallow and the bi-fold door to the pantry didn’t match the rest of the kitchen. In addition, there was no task lighting – often making the space feel dark. The Kirtley’s made a decision to completely renovate their entire kitchen.

ABC Construction and Remodeling was hired to handle this kitchen renovation. The Kirtley’s wanted a new kitchen with a more contemporary appearance – so new, better quality cherry cabinets were chosen to replace the old oak builder grade cabinets. They also wanted task xenon cabinet lighting as well as light rail and crown molding.

The Kirtley’s wanted a low maintenance kitchen and they wanted the project finished quickly. ABC Construction and Remodeling came in and altered a wall, removed the old cabinets and countertops, and reinstalled the entire kitchen cabinetry in three days. The old countertops were templated and reinstalled ten days later with a custom Silestone quartz surface and backsplash. From start to finish, the entire project was finished in three weeks.

Other details in the kitchen that were upgraded include the following. The lighting controls in the kitchen now have a dimmer, so the Kirtley’s can control the mood or brighten the space for the best possible cooking light. The old wire shelves in the original built-in pantry were replaced with a new unit that matches the new cherry kitchen cabinetry. It has rollout trays for maximum convenience and ease of use, both in the lower portions as well as shelves higher up.

The door style that the Kirtley’s chose is a contemporary shaker styling manufactured by Wellborn Cabinetry called Lancaster. It is an all-wood cabinet product with an elegant, deep rich cherry stain. Other improvements include changes and upgrades to cabinet functionality including large drawer bases, the installation of a base corner lazy-susan cabinet with a double hinged door that can now be opened wide for easy access. Pull out drawers and smart layout design now make the kitchen easier to use – no more having to bend over to retrieve things or cramped storage spaces. And finally, upgraded stainless steel appliances and a better quality, deeper sink were installed.

ABC Construction and Remodeling thanks the Kirtley’s for the opportunity to serve them.
